FAQ – 2021-2022 School Year

We recognize this year will be very different for the LCHS Choral program, and we want to keep you up to date on what we know.

Please Be Flexible

Our driving philosophy for this year will be “plan for everything, but expect change constantly”. If you are not already subscribed to our Choir email list, please do so now.

Concerts

We were thrilled to have had live and in-person concerts at the Pasadena First United Methodist Church for both our Fall and Holiday Concerts. See Latest News for links to full performances.

Unlike these two previous concerts, we only have the FUMC reserved for one night in March: Friday, March 11th. We are hoping to be able to invite families in person for this one-night concert. As we get closer to March and as we see the effects of this new Omicron strain, we’ll let you know what the plans are and how many tickets will be available for each family.

Our venue requires us to follow certain Covid protocols:

  • All performers and audience members must be masked at all times.

  • Performers need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the performance.

  • Audience members (excluding those in the same household) must socially distance as much as possible.

Ticket sales will be online only this year so that we can manage and track our audience capacity. Tickets are $10 each for Adults, $5 for Students (7th grade - college) and Free for Students and Children 6th grade and younger.

All students are asked to arrive dressed in appropriate choir wardrobe, sporting an appropriate hairstyle and wearing a black mask.

Previous concerts are available for free on YouTube (see Latest News for links) and on LCPlay+.

Festivals

There are still plans for the choirs to participate in a festival this year. It is important to note that not only do our choirs need to fulfill LCUSD district policies, but they also need to fulfill the policy requirements of the hosting facility. For example, some festival locations require all members of the visiting choirs be fully vaccinated.

Tours

The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will tour together this year and will travel to Boston, Massachusetts in late March to participate in a festival. Many of the venues, restaurants and activities the choirs will be participating in require proof of vaccination. Please be prepared to send proof of vaccination with your child to Boston.

Tour details are posted on our password-protected Tour page. Parents of students enrolled in Concert Choir or Chamber Singers should have received the password in an email on 10/25/2021 @ 3:18 P.M. from the LCHS Choral Parents Association. If you did not receive this email, let us know using our Contact Us page and be sure to register for our CPA email list ASAP.

For reference, the Payment Schedule is as follows:

First Payment due October 22
Second Payment due December 10
Final Payment due January 28

If your student has tour credits from previous years or has done fundraising this year in the form of song-a-grams (coming in December) or ad sales, these credits will be applied to your final payment. Keep in mind that unused tour credits from past years will automatically be transferred to siblings. Each family will receive an individual invoice including your final payment amount.

Retreats

Concert Choir Retreat

The Concert Choir retreat was held on Sept 25-26th in the Angeles National Forest.

Chamber Singers Retreat

Due to fire in the Sequoias, the fall Chamber Singers retreat was postponed.

The new weekend is January 21-23, leaving after-school on Friday the 21st and returning late morning on the 23rd.

Parent Volunteers

Per LCUSD District policy, all parents who volunteer with the students this year need to be fully vaccinated. If you would like to be added to our list of volunteers, please give us your availability on our Volunteer page. Volunteers will be contacted before the event to check availability and to be given arrival times and responsibilities. Concert volunteers are able to save seats before beginning their shift.
