  • I can control whether or not posts automatically transition between slides and how long between transitions (1-10 seconds). Below it’s set to transition automatically every 4 seconds. When it gets to the end, it returns to the beginning.

  • I can turn on or off the next and previous arrows. I like leaving the arrow on.

  • I can control how many posts are brought in. Right now it’s set to 8.

Happy 18th birthday and congratulations to senior Concert Choir vocalist, Ruby Grey! Ruby has been in our choir program for 4 years and has been a staple in LCHS school musicals, most recently starring as Brooke Windham in Legally Blonde. Next year, Ruby is headed back east to Skidmore College. Ruby reflects, “My favorite choir memory was the last time we sang Hear My Prayer in Italy. It was the last time concert choir was going to sing our choral music and it was really emotional for a lot of the seniors. I felt touched being able to sing such a special piece of music with some of my favorite people in the world; it was a beautiful end to our trip.” Best of luck and keep dancing through your next adventure, Ruby!

We are incredibly proud of senior Chamber Singer Jessica Mazin who is already so accomplished! A 6 year veteran of the program, current section leader, and pop concert star, Jessica has been a major force in our program throughout her time at LCHS. Next year, Jessica will be attending Berkeley College of Music in Boston. Jessica writes: “My favorite memory from choir is from last year, when we got to sing without masks for the first time. We sang “Unclouded Day” and the room shook. I remember feeling like I was going to cry from happiness. That feeling is something i’ve felt a lot this year too, every time we would sing Leonardo. I’m so thankful for the choir program and all the magic the music has brought me!” We are going to miss Jessica terribly but luckily we (and millions of others) will listen to her music on Spotify. All the best Jessica! Don’t forget us!

Emily’s writes: “I’m super grateful for all the unique opportunities that choir has given me. I’ve met so many lovely people and seen really amazing things. My favorite choir memory would be exploring Boston with my friends. I’ve had so much fun and I’ll always cherish my choir memories!” All the best Emily and we hope to see you at future concerts!

Today we honor senior Ari Tujian. Ari is a section leader in Chamber Singers and a 6 year veteran of our program. Next year, Ari will be attending Northwestern University as a vocal performance and chemistry major. Ari shares, “One of my favorite memories in choir was recently when we sang “Unclouded Day” in a church in Rome. Growing up, I would hear that song a lot, whether it was my brother practicing his part or hearing it at the concerts. It was so magical to be able to sing it in such a gorgeous and historic place. When we got to the big climax of the song, I got full body chills and just thought of how lucky I was to be singing in such an amazing group, alongside such terrific people.” Thanks for giving us chills for the past 6 years Ari and all the best in your next adventure! Clearly Dr. Brookey is going to miss you!

Our last full day in Italy was spent exploring Venice (including a gondola ride for everyone!) and having our final concert in the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista. It was the perfect end to an incredible trip. We have so many to thank, for without them this experience would never have happened, including Dr. Brookey, our parents, Mr. Cartnal, all our chaperones, our CPA tour organizers, the @insideeurope tour leaders, @lacanadahighschool @lchsboosterclub, @lacanadaunified, the Jameson Foundation, and many more.

On Tuesday evening our choirs performed in the Medici Villa “La Ferdinanda” which was built in 1596. Over the centuries many illustrious people have passed within the walls of “La Ferdinanda”. For example, in 1608 Galileo Galilei was invited by Ferdinand I to educate “in math” his son Cosimo. Even Leonardo da Vinci seems to have remained some time at this Villa: in fact in the old kitchen of the Grand Ducal Cellars the rotisserie he designed can still be admired. Before setting off for Venice via Verona the next morning, @insideeurope organized an early Easter egg hunt. Reed found the jackpot!
